CELEBRATING HOBART
More than 150 friends and alumni/ae celebrated the rededication
of Hobart Hall October 6. A three-year, $3 million renovation of
ABSWs main campus building was completed last spring. The
project involved a structural retrofit to protect the 80-year-old
building against earthquakes. In addition, the building was made
handicap accessible and equipped with new technology. Four special
rooms were dedicated: Drexler Student Commons, in honor of Frederick
I. Drexler, D.D., founder of California Baptist Theological Seminary,
one of the forerunners of ABSW; the Lucille "Billie" Poole
Seminar Room, in honor of the schools longtime executive assistant;
the Eldon Ernst Faculty Commons, in honor of ABSWs professor
emeritus of American religious history; and the J. Alfred Smith
Sr. Assembly Room, in honor of the seminarys professor of
preaching.
