SEMINARY EXPLORES PARTNERSHIP
The faculties of ABSW and Central Baptist Theological Seminary
will journey to Nicaragua and Costa Rica in January to explore the
mission of the church and the nature of theological education in
Latin America.
The trip is also part of ongoing conversations between ABSW and
the Kansas City seminary about cooperative ventures.
This summer the faculties of the two seminaries met in Denver
with leaders of the American Baptist Churches of the Rocky Mountains
to explore continuing education opportunities for pastors west of
the Mississippi.
Other partnership possibilities under consideration include a common
M.Div. program and a joint doctor of ministry degree.
The mission trip to Nicaragua and Costa Rica will provide further
opportunity for reflection on cooperation.
This mission/educational trip will give the faculties a common
experience even as they consider the next steps that need to be
taken for cooperation here at home, says ABSW President Keith
Russell.
The trip is sponsored in part by the Board of International Ministries,
American Baptist Churches USA. Faculty will meet with pastors, church
leaders, and theological educators in Nicaragua and Costa Rica.
