LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE SLATED
Noted theologian,
economist and activist Ched Myers will be the featured speaker at
ABSW’s annual Pastoral Leadership Conference Jan. 10-11, 2008.
Myers will be joined
by his wife, Elaine Enns, a respected educator in the field of
conflict transformation and restorative justice. They will engage
conference participants in the content of a new book they are writing
titled Ambassadors of Reconciliation: A Theology and Diverse
Practices of Restorative Justice and Peacemaking.
Myers and Enns are
ecumenical leaders of Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries, a justice
and peacemaking organization in Southern California.
Myers is known for his
provocative books, including Who Will Roll Away the Stone? Queries
for First World Christians and Binding the Strong Man: A Political
Reading of Mark’s Story of Jesus, which won the 1989 Catholic Press
Association Book Award in scripture. Also a writer, Enns has taught
in universities and seminaries across North America.
The conference begins
Jan. 10 at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and worship at ABSW. A daylong
workshop will follow on Jan. 11.
