ABSW-ALUMS TEACHING AT SUMMER SESSION

Two seminary alums are teaching courses in the GTU Cooperative Summer Session.

Dr. Rodney Romney (’60) is teaching “Spiritual Formation for Pastoral Leaders” July 1-5. Romney served American Baptist churches in Oakland and Seattle for more than 40 years.

Dr. Warren H. Stewart (’82), senior pastor of First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix, Ariz., is teaching “An Introduction to Hermeneutics in Preaching the Word” Aug. 5-9. Stewart is chair of ABSW’s board of trustees.

Also teaching at the GTU this summer is ABSW’s professor of preaching, Dr. J. Alfred Smith Sr. Smith will teach “A Friendly Learning Approach to Preaching Without Notes” July 15-19.

ABSW itself will offer three summer courses: “Foundations of Christian Theology,” taught by Dr. George C.L. Cummings, July 8-19; “Worship in the Free Church Tradition,” taught by Dr. Nancy E. Hall, July 8-19; and “Marriage and Family Counseling in Multicultural Contexts,” taught by Dr. Brian Owyoung, July 8-19.

Registration information for the GTU Cooperative Summer Session can be found at www.gtusummersession.org. To learn more about ABSW’s summer courses, call 510-841-1905.
