IN MEMORIAM

ABSW lost two friends in recent months.

Fred Drexler, son of seminary founder Dr. Frederic I. Drexler, died Dec. 7, 2003, at the age of 88. Dr. Louis Knoll, former vice president of business and financial affairs, died Feb. 12, 2004. He was 78.

Drexler, an insurance executive who spent much of his retirement engaged in civic activities, was a major supporter of ABSW. One of his gifts made possible the Drexler Student Commons, named in honor of his father. Knoll, a vice president at ABSW from 1978-1985, left the seminary to take a post at Regent’s College in his native Canada. He was the first student to enroll in the Graduate Theological Union in 1963, and in 1971 he received the first Ph.D. granted by ABSW.

The seminary also remembers the following alumni/ae:

  • Ralph Bunting ('72) December 7, 2003
  • Paul Conklin ('59) June 7, 2003
  • Florence Fairhill ('46) September 6, 2003
  • Wendell Hansen ('70) October 6, 2002
  • James Hughes ('41) October 22, 2003
  • Carl Locke ('41) March 5, 2004
