Seminary Honors Longtime Trustees
The seminary recognized two of its longtime trustees last fall
by naming them trustees emeriti. Dr. Jane Gahs Wilson was named
trustee emerita and Dr. Charles Chicks was named trustee emeritus.
The seminary honored Dr. Wilson in 1992 with the Outstanding Christian
Service Award. She retired from the staff of the Los Angeles Baptist
City Mission Society, and shared her leadership as a trustee with
the American Baptist Women of the Pacific Southwest, the Children’s
Baptist Home, and American Baptist-related Bacone College.
Dr. Chicks is moderator at First Baptist Church in Sunnyvale, Calif.
A retired engineer, Chicks serves on the board of American Baptistrelated
Linfield College, where he received his bachelor’s degree.
He is a past president of the American Baptist Churches of the West.
“ABSW has been the beneficiary of Dr. Wilson’s and
Dr. Chick’s wisdom, experience and commitment to theological
education,” says President Keith Russell. “They have
modeled well the task of a trustee, which is to support and nurture
the mission."
