LECTURESHIP HONORS KEATON'S LEADERSHIP
ABSW has established a new lectureship honoring the dedicated service
and leadership of the Rev. Dr. Theodore Keaton, the seminarys
president emeritus.
The Theodore Keaton Lectureship will be held annually on campus
for the purpose of encouraging pastors, students, and alumni/ae
in the field of pastoral ministry.
Keaton came to ABSW in 1987 and retired in 1997. During his tenure,
Keaton eliminated the seminarys debt, balanced the budget,
doubled student enrollment, and led the seminary to a ten-year renewal
of accreditation. He was also responsible for conducting the 21st
Century Fund Campaign, which raised more than $3 million for the
annual fund, endowment, and restoration of Hobart Hall. Keaton led
the seminary through difficult times to a period of fiscal stability
and academic excellence.
We are excited to honor President Emeritus Keatons
work through the establishment of this endowed lecture fund,"
said President Keith Russell. We intend to lift up his example
of servant leadership through this annual lecture.
Gifts to the Theodore Keaton Lectureship can be sent to ABSW,
Office of Seminary Relations, 2606 Dwight Way, Berkeley, CA
