ROBERTS NAMED ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR
 |
| Rev. David Roberts |
The Rev. David Roberts (73), a Washington pastor and
leader in the American Baptist Churches of the Northwest, is ABSWs
Alumnus of the Year.
Roberts graduated from the Covina campus of ABSW in 1973. Since
that time, he has served as an important member of the Alumni/ae
Association, including several years as president.
Roberts served as a member of seminarys board of trustees
and the Presidential Search Committee. He provided valued leadership
in strengthening the Alumni/ae Association by developing goals and
strategies for increasing alumni/ae representation and involvement.
He also served as alumni/ae representative for the 21st Century
Campaign.
Roberts admirable character is evident in his love for his
wife and children, and in his pastoral leadership. The skills he
learned as a student at ABSW have been perfected in three pastorates
in Washington. He served churches in Palouse and Mountlake Terrace,
and is currently pastor of the First Baptist Church of Yakima.
Roberts is the immediate past president of the American Baptist
Churches of the Northwest. He served the region with his gifts of
grace and patience in a very difficult time.
David Roberts is an exemplary example of a Christian leader,
says the Rev. Michelle Holmes, ABSWs vice president for seminary
relations. He has brought his ministerial skills and sensitivities
to the positions of region and alumni/ae president, trustee, and
pastor. His church, seminary, and denomination have all benefited
from his valuable service.
