Charles Arthur ('67) has come out of
retirement to open several charter schools in Oregon known as Arthur
Academy, which is dedicated to making sure every student learns
how to read.
Frank Brougher ('66) is the associate
interim pastor at First Baptist Church in Glendale, Calif.
Mason Brown ('56) has just begun a second
three-year term as chairperson of Missions at Calvary Baptist Church
in Denver, Colo. Mason is also the chairperson for the Rocky Mountain
Region American Baptist Churches Senior’s Conference, which
will be held Sept. 13-15, 2005.
Grace Sohn-Chung and Jae Chung
('04) were ordained on Nov. 7, 2004, at Korean Church of
the Valley, San Ramon, Calif.
Patricia Ciupek-Reed ('93) was honored
by First Baptist Church, Antioch, Calif., on her 10th year anniversary
as pastor of the church.
Everett Curry ('67) and his wife, Barbara,
celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on June 13, 2004.
Albirda Rose Eberhardt ('99) retired
from teaching dance at San Francisco State University Jan. 1, 2005.
Marshall Hoffman ('60) celebrated his
47th year of ordained ministry on Oct. 20, 2004.
Edwin Irvin ('75) celebrated his 50th
year of ordination with family and friends on Jan. 8, 2005.
Robert Moore ('56) and wife, Doris,
have been active in the First Baptist Church of Redlands, Calif.,
for 43 years.
Helen Murrell ('58) is serving on the
Board of International Ministries and the General Board of ABC/USA.
Harold Pollinger ('47) celebrated 62
years of ordination on Oct. 5, 2004.
Aidsand Wright-Riggins ('75) was awarded
Doctor of Divinity from Alderson-Broaddus College in West Virginia
this past May. He was previously awarded Doctor of Humane Letters
from Benedict College.
Allison Tanner ('98,'00) is pursuing
Ph.D. studies at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. She
received a Newhall Fellowship to co-teach a GTU course next year
that explores relationships between “Church, Power and Justice.”
