COMMENCEMENT WEEKEND SLATED

ABSW’s commencement ceremonies will be held May 21 at First Baptist Church of Oakland with the Rev. Dr. J. Alfred Smith Sr. preaching.

This year’s weekend celebration includes a special reunion reception May 20 for the classes of 1945, 1955 (53-57 included), 1965, 1975, 1985, and 1995. The reception will be held in Crouch Memorial Library in Hobart Hall at 6:30 p.m. following the 5 p.m. senior chapel service.

Graduation day May 21 begins with a 10 a.m. brunch for alumni/ae and friends in the J. Alfred Smith Sr. Assembly Room in Hobart Hall. Commencement follows at 2 p.m. with a reception afterward.

Dr. Smith is professor of preaching and church ministries at ABSW. Considered among the foremost church leaders in America, Smith is senior pastor of Oakland’s Allen Temple Baptist Church, a writer, and a mentor to many.
